Who We Are
Exciting New Team at CPAWS-Yukon
2007 saw a number of staff changes at the CPAWS-Yukon office and we are very excited about the new successful team that has taken root and is thriving.
Theresa Gulliver, Conservation Campaigner, took a well deserved break through the summer and fall to spend time on the land and pursue other interests. She is now rejuvenated and has returned to work part-time with a great team. After three years of working primarily in the SE Yukon on forestry-related matters, she is keen to shift her focus to protecting the Three Rivers and establishing a conservation-based land use plan.
Gillian McKee is a new addition to our team with a long history in land use planning, most recently as the Lands Manager at Kwanlin Dun First Nation. Gillian was one of the founding members of CPAWS-NWT and that chapters first Conservation Director. She is excited to be connecting once again with the organization as a CPAWS-Yukon Conservation Campaigner for the Peel watershed. We are delighted to have Gillian on board.
We have hired a consultant, Lisa Taylor, to fill in as Office Manager on a temporary basis as we decide how to best fill this position. Lisa is well-equipped to run our office with her experience as the Office Manager at the Yukon Conservation Society for many years before starting her own consulting business. We are very pleased to have the benefit of Lisas advice and experience.
Mike Dehn is breathing a sigh of relief with a full office and new team on board. He continues to work diligently on our Three Rivers campaign while keeping a broad, forward-looking vision for our chapter. Randi Mulder is the longest standing member of our CPAWS-Yukon team. She works part time on research and GIS and has a wonderful knack for keeping things running smoothly. And Juri Peepre continues to stay involved and act as a valuable member of our team. On contract, Juri provides input on a number of projects and is currently working on a conservation economics assessment of the Peel Watershed.
In September, Mac Hislop, campaign coordinator, left our organization in search of other job and education opportunities in British Columbia. Mac spent much of the last seven years focusing on industrial threats to areas of high conservation values and protected areas. We wish Mac all the best and are sure hell stay involved in conservation in one way or another.
In the fall our Office Manager, Bonnie Harpe, left CPAWS to pursue a career at the Yukon Department of Justice. She remains active with CPAWS-Yukon and continues to prepare wonderful meals for our monthly Dinner and Discussion Nights. Thanks for all your efforts Bonnie.
Together, we form a well functioning, vibrant team with the necessary skills and energy to proactively move conservation forward in this beautiful Territory we call home.
Sincerely,
Mike Dehn - Executive Director
Randi Mulder - GIS/Research Coordinator
Theresa Gulliver - Conservation Campaigner
Gillian McKee - Conservation Campaigner
Lisa Taylor - Office Manager Consultant
Juri Peepre - Conservation Advisor
