CPAWS Yukon Releases the Snake River Suite

Stunning fine art prints by nationally known realist painter Ron Bolt feature one of the celebrated Three Rivers in the northern Yukon

February 22, 2006 – Whitehorse – CPAWS-Yukon has released the much-anticipated Snake River Suite, a stunning boxed set of fine art prints by nationally known realist painter, Ron Bolt. The six prints feature the radiant tapestry of the Snake River landscape, part of the Three Rivers wilderness in the Yukon's Arctic Rockies.

Describing his painting Nameless Hours, artist Ron Bolt says, “In the northern Yukon, the light is almost constant and the sun hardly sets. The night slips seamlessly into day almost without a dawn … one is surrounded with a scene unchanged for millennia and the tracking of time is meaningless.”

Presented in a royal blue cloth-bound box bearing the Yukon Territory crest, the print set includes statements by artist Ron Bolt, engaging essays on the Three Rivers, and an introduction by John Ralston Saul.

“Ron’s paintings are superb! You can enjoy the beauty of the Yukon’s great Three Rivers wilderness in your home – and help shape the future of this untrammelled northern watershed,” said Three Rivers spokesperson Juri Peepre.

Ron Bolt was a participant in the Three Rivers Journey of 2003. His works are touring nationally in the Three Rivers, wild waters, sacred places exhibition now being shown at the Kelowna Art Gallery in British Columbia. The exhibit opens at the Art Gallery of Peterborough in Ontario on May 19. Check the CPAWS Yukon Three Rivers events calendar for all the details.

Ron will donate half the proceeds to CPAWS-Yukon’s conservation work in the Peel watershed. This is a limited edition of 30 sets – only 25 sets offered for sale. The six 13" x 15" colour serigraphs were pulled at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Newfoundland, exclusively for this conservation and fundraising project.
