New Study on Economic Impact of Kluane National Park Now Available
A final draft of a comprehensive study on the local and regional economic impacts of Kluane National Park, commissioned by CPAWS-Yukon, with additional support from Parks Canada and the Yukon government, is now available online through the consultants Web site:
www.yukonomics.ca/reports/kluane/
See the Summary Report.
CPAWS initiated this independent study with support from Parks Canada and the Yukon Territorial Government, along with participation by local communities, First Nations and the Kluane Park Management Board.
This project was initiated in 2002, and was sponsored by CPAWS-Yukon with the generous financial assistance of project partners, plus the Brainerd Foundation, Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation, and the Pew Charitable Trusts.
Please note that the report posted online is the consultants final draft report. Although the consultants work is now complete, the report has not been formally endorsed or accepted. The report posted online is still technically a draft report.
The report clearly demonstrates the significant positive economic impacts of national parks on rural economies.
